Two years ago the South African Mint manufactured the first in its history silver version of famous gold coin Krugerrand. It was to celebrate the 50th anniversary of releasing the gold Krugerrand. After the world success of silver edition of this famous numismatic product, the South African Mint decided to manufacture silver Krugerrand this year as well.

It was to celebrate the 50th anniversary of releasing the gold Krugerrand. After the world success of silver edition of this famous numismatic product, the South African Mint decided to manufacture silver Krugerrand this year as well.

    The obverse portrays the profile of Paul Kruger – one of the most powerful politics and leaders in South Africa in XIX century. Around its figure there are inscriptions of the name of the country: Sud-Afrika and South Africa.

    The reverse presents the springbok – a graceful and high-spirited antelope, which is the national animal of South Africa. Above the picture of the antelope, the proper name Krugerrand is inscribed. The denomination of 1 Rand, the weight of 1 oz and the year of issue 2019 are also visible on the face value of this unique silver product.
